Welcome to the website of Aillebrack N.S., Co. Galway. On our website, you can check out photos of some of the many events that take place in our school, explore links to websites that parents and pupils might find useful, and learn more about our special little school.

Aillebrack National School is a small rural school nestled in the tranquil countryside of the townland of the same name in the western part of Connemara. We are one of the most westerly schools in Co. Galway and with Doon Hill, and the abandoned castle of the Blake family, acting as a stunning backdrop, Aillebrack is a peaceful haven for its students.

First established in 1884 under the principalship of Mr. PJ Mulleague, the school was mysteriously burned down in 1940 and rebuilt five years later. 2020 marked its 75th year in the new building, an event celebrated by the launching of our book “School at Slyne Head.” The current principal is Marion McDermott, the deputy-principal is Colm Wallace while Louise Roche leads SET in the school. Joan Conneely is our SNA while Bridie Conroy is our secretary. The school is steeped in history and has witnessed many changes over the more than 135 years it has served the community but it continues to be the focal point of a vibrant area abounding in natural beauty with a strong sense of community.
